RoadBro privacy policy

Updated October 23, 2026

RoadBro records your drives and lets friends drive together in a convoy. It has no ads, no tracking and sells no data. This page says what leaves your phone and why. Two things happen by default and you can turn either off: your drives are backed up to the RoadBro server, and your drive in a convoy is shared with the convoy.

Your account

You create an account with a display name only. There is no email, phone number or password. Each phone you sign in on keeps its own sign-in token, and the server lists those phones by model and when they were last active, so you can sign them out from Profile.

To use the account on another phone you can save a passkey for RoadBro in your password manager, such as iCloud Keychain or Google Password Manager. The server keeps only the passkey's public key.

If you back up your account with Apple or Google, the server keeps the account identifier they share with RoadBro and, when they share it, your email address, only to sign you in again. You can remove the backup in Profile.

Drives on your phone

Trips you record, by hand or automatically, stay on your phone, including their route, speeds and places, unless drive backup is on. Automatic recording uses your location and motion activity in the background only to notice when you start and stop driving.

Drive backup

Backing up your drives is part of how RoadBro keeps them, and it is on for new accounts. Right after you create an account, before anything is uploaded, the app says that backup is on and what it means, and you can turn it off there or at any time with Back up drives in Profile. Accounts created before backup was on by default keep the choice they made, and the app may offer to turn it on.

While backup is on, every drive you record is copied to the RoadBro server with its route, speeds, times, pauses, the car you picked for it and how it compared with a planned route, together with the phone and app version that sent it. The Bluetooth and car connections a drive saw never leave your phone.

The copies have two purposes. Your drives come back when you sign in on a new phone and stay the same on every phone signed in to your account, including the ones you delete. And the RoadBro team analyses backed-up drives to improve the app, for example to check that automatic recording starts and ends drives at the right moment or how close route estimates come to the real drive. Backed-up drives are never sold, never shared with advertisers and never used for ads.

Deleting a drive also deletes its server copy. Turning off Back up drives deletes every drive the server keeps for your account, and deleting your account deletes them too. The drives on your phones stay there. The server keeps which version of the backup notice the app showed you and when backup was turned on, or when you turned it off.

Convoys

While you are in a convoy, your live position, heading and speed go to the RoadBro server and on to the other members. The server keeps only your latest position, in memory, and forgets it when the convoy ends.

Sharing your drive with the convoy is part of how convoys work. Unless you turn off Share my convoy drive, the members who share see your convoy drive in the convoy's history (the route, times, driving statistics and how the drive compared with the planned route), and you see theirs. The switch is shown, already on and with this explanation, before you create or join a convoy, and it stays in the convoy so you can turn it off at any time. Only the part of your drive while you are in the convoy and sharing is shared, never the drive before you joined or after you left.

Turning sharing off stops it from that moment. What you already shared stays in the convoy's history for its participants, even if you delete the drive on your phone. The server keeps which version of the sharing explanation the app showed you and when you started and stopped sharing.

Voice room

The convoy voice room runs on LiveKit Cloud. Your microphone audio is streamed to the other members while you are in the room and is not recorded by RoadBro. Background noise is removed on your phone before the audio is sent.

Maps and routes

To show maps, search places and plan routes, the iPhone app uses Apple Maps and the Android app uses Google Maps Platform, which receive the locations and searches needed for that.

Deleting your data and questions

Write to [email protected] to delete your account and everything the server keeps about you, or with any question about this policy.
